Obsession reunion to take place friday August 5 at The Cabooze in Minneapolis, MN
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 01/17/2011 - 13:56.Jeff's band Obsession--the heavy metal
sensation of the early 80s has secured a date for the long awaited reunion. The
August 5 date confirmed for the Cabooze will feature all 5 original band
members Brynn Arens, Greg Eidem, Todd McNurlin, Neal Sundet and Loven.
"Most people, including myself, will be excited to see the five of us on
stage together for the first time in over 25 years. I've waited a long time for
this one special night. It's going to be incredible!" says Jeff.
For the Obsession fans it is a dream come
true. The band will be performing 99% original material from their heaviest
years 1982-1983 and fans will be delighted with a full-on rock show. The show
will also be a chance for many who have heard the stories of the huge shows but
never got to see/hear what original metal was like in 1982 in Minneapolis to
finally experience it: Obsession promises an incredible show that will delight
their fans and newcomers alike.
Do not miss the Obsession concert friday
August 5 at the Cabooze.

We are looking forward to helping Jeff realize his goals and more. Jeff's fans can look forward to a tribute cd in 2011, his original music cd early 2012 as well as a brand new website, television appearances and national press."

The Jeff Loven show combines rock, pop, metal, country and hip hop and there is a request menu of over 300 songs that audience members can pick from. Also, because Jeff is an award-winning guitar player extraordinaire expect a few amp-busting guitar assaults ala SRV, GnR, AC/DC, Van Halen or Satriani along the way!!!

Fall 2009 Update
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 09/28/2009 - 22:22."My family has been super blessed in a rough year as my wife Melissa battled Hodgkins Lymphoma. Melissa has been in full remission now for 6 months. She is feeling better, has her hair back and is getting her energy back--the cancer is gone and things are pretty much back to normal at the Loven household with our 2 little boys. We wish to thank everyone for your prayers and support that helped us get through this difficult time." -Jeff Loven
Meanwhile, it's full steam ahead for the Jeff Loven 1 Man Band show. Jeff is busy adding new songs to the show and recording the 1 Man Band cd.
In other Loven news:
- Congrats to Jeff for landing the McDonalds Coporate Holiday Party this december. Jeff says "This is going to be a very, very special night!"
- Jeff recently worked with Obsession/Funhouse ex-bandmate Brynn Arens on a new recording of 2 classic Obsession songs. Obsession was the first Minnesota band to win a Minnesota Music Award for heavy metal back in the 80s.
- Jeff's old pal Matt Laporte, who plays guitar in the new Savatage (VH1 and MTV 80s metal veterans) and does work for the Transiberian Orchestra, will be making some guest appearances at the Loven show this coming holiday season. Watch for updates and a chance to meet this worldclass shredder who tours throughout the US and is super big in Europe.
Melissa Loven Benefit a Huge Success
Submitted by admin on Wed, 01/14/2009 - 17:47.On behalf of my wife Melissa and myself I would like to thank all of those involved with the Melissa Loven Benefit-- the organizers, the bands/performers, the sponsors , family and friends and all those who came to show support. The benefit was a huge success and through God’s grace enough money was raised to pay any outstanding medical bills and other bills related to Melissa’s illness so far.
We were fortunate to get good news January 8th (just days before the benefit) that Melissa’s latest PET scan shows that the cluster of plum-sized tumors that had pushed her lungs and heart over have dissolved away and she is now officially in remission-we can now move out of the chemo phase of her treatment and into radiation.
In particular we would like to thank:
- Amanda Jeanne, Eric Roy, Mike Wolowicz, Dave Enyart and Tracy Culbert for organizing and staffing the benefit.
- Rachel and the staff at Throwback’s Grille and Bar in Woodbury for being so accomodating
- Rick Berthiume/Bomb Squad Prod. for running sound
- The performers -Double Shot, Uncle Chunk, Kurt Jorgensen And Over The Line.
- Steve at Sonic Envy for letting us use his PA/lights
- Willie Peterson for helping emcee
- Sponsors:
- Ben and Mary Morgan
- Clean Response Co.
- Minnesota Twins
- MN Timberwolves
- Olson Guitars
- Performance Music/Blaine
- Metro Sound and Lighting
- Macalusos Roadhouse
- Dicks Bar/Hudson
- The Borderline
- The Starbar
- Hudson Golf
- Rebecca Fisher
- Frank Kohler and Mike at Neumanns Bar
- JP Bush Luxury Homes
- Eleanor Lee Bush
- Melissa and Jon from Friar Tucks for sponsoring our spaghetti banquet
- Molly Wolff for setting up her massage table at the benefit
There are others I’m forgetting and I will post their names soon, please forgive me
The benefit turnout was both moving and heartwarming. Times like these remind us of the important things in life. Nothing compares to the value of family, friends and health. We feel so blessed and we thank God that we have all of you in our lives.
Thank you so much.
Sincerely, Jeff Loven
